Jon Robinson is a figure skating coach based in Hong Kong. He is one of the few skaters ever to pass the highest ISI freestyle level (10). He has also passed Pair 8 (with his daughter, Kristie), Dance 10, Figure 10 and Couple 10. He has also passed the highest levels in the USFS disciplines of Free Skating, Pairs, Dance, Moves in the Field, Figures, and Free Dance. Jon also performed with Disney on Ice and has been teaching for more than 20 years.

Born in 1964, Jon Robinson started hockey skating in 1974 at the Ice Chalet in Knoxville, Tennessee with Coach Larry LaBorde. He took part in his first competition, Beta in 1975 at the Robert Unger ISIA Competition in Knoxville and won the first place. The ISIA is now known as the Ice Sports Industry.

Jon began to learn how to figure skate in 1976 with Coaches Martha Freer, Laurie Davis and Robert Unger. He took the plunge into competitive figure skating (and continued playing hockey for one final year) in 1980 by joining the United States Figure Skating Association (now known as the United States Figure Skating - the American member of the International Skating Union) and moving to Atlanta, Georgia to study with Coaches Dale Lynn-Wright, Susan Chaffee-Dabney, Chuck Miller, Ron Shaver and Lewis Elkin. Jon competed in the United States Figure Skating Championships in Senior Men from 1987 to 1990. 

In 1983, he passed ISI Freestyle 10 and two years later passed ISI Dance 10 in 1985 with Thea VonZabern. Subsequently, he passed ISI Figure 10, USFS Gold Dance with Janice Teodoro-Forbes, USFS Gold Figure, and USFS Gold Freestyle in 1986. 

In 1987, Jon started skating in Boston, Massachusetts with Coaches Evy and Mary Scotvold, and he passed ISI Couple 10 with Lori Anderson in 1988.

He started skating in Monsey, New York with Coaches Peter Burrows, Sergei Aleshinsky and Mary-Lynn Gelderman in 1989. After skating in Newark, Delaware for a few months, he passed USFS Gold Free Dance with Lisa Grove and USFS Gold Pair with Calla Urbanski in 1991, and he started his coaching career in Montgomery, Alabama later that same year.

Jon joined Disney on Ice as a Principal Skater in 1991. He toured for 3 months in Australia in “Disney on Ice Presents Pinocchio” as the Chameleon and performed Pinocchio for the last 3 weeks because the original skater got injured. He performed in “Disney on Ice Presents Beauty and the Beast” as Le Fou for 10 months in the United States and Canada .

In 1993, Jon started teaching skating in Hong Kong and married Trenee.

He was Figure Skating Coach, Skating School Director and Assistant Manager of the ice rink in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2001.

He passed USFS Gold Moves-in-the-Field in 2006, ISI Pair 8 in 2010 with his daughter, Kristie and USFS Senior Supplemental Moves-in-the-Field in 2012.

He was Figure Skating Coach and Skating School Director of the ice rink in Rochester, Michigan in 2008.

Jon started teaching skating in Hong Kong again in 2012 and was appointed as a High-test Judge and as an International Referee of the Ice Skating Institute of Asia in the same year.

Jon is currently the Treasurer of the Ice Skating Institute of Asia (since 2016) and Director of the Hong Kong District of the Ice Skating Institute of Asia (since 2018).
